Introduction: God’s plan that we will be seeing is an acronym; and we’re going to be looking at eight steps in this framework from the Bible that God reveals for financial transformation. The story that will be our foundation for today’s study comes from Second Kings, chapter four, and then we’re going to break this down into G O D S P L A N for your financial transformation.

1 What is God’s plan for a financial transformation? 2 Kings 4:1-7 (opens in new tab due to long verse)
Note: In the story of this widow who needed a financial transformation, God reveals the plan we can follow to experience a financial transformation ourselves. Just remember G.O.D.S.P.L.A.N.

2 What’s our first step to experiencing a financial transformation? Matthew 7:7
Note: The very first step of G.O.D.S P.L.A.N. for financial transformation is “G”; you have to go seek a transformation. If we are looking for and desiring a financial transformation, but we do not seek and go search for it, then God has not promised that we will find it. Asking is not enough. We must A.S.K. (Ask, seek, and knock). People tend to get the first part right in asking for a financial transformation, but they don’t go searching for answers. You’re different. You’re here because you’re actually searching for a transformation. The woman in 2 Kings 4 sought a financial transformation. She found the prophet Elisha.

3 How are we able to have a more sure opportunity of success in the actions we take to transform our financial situation? Proverbs 11:14
Note: The “O” in the second step is to obtain and submit to a teacher. In the story, the woman is actually going to the man of God looking for an offering. But the man of God doesn’t give her an offering. The man of God gives her an opportunity, optimism, a business plan. He asks her, “What is in thine house?” He’s teaching her to expect more from herself and to expect more from the situation. He’s preparing her to be able to see solutions to her financial problems. If we’ve purposed in our hearts to financially support ourselves, we’re going to have to obtain and submit to a teacher. When we have a good coach, their advice is going to seem counterintuitive to us. Why? Because whatever we’re believing and doing right now is not working. When we have a coach, they can show us a bigger scope and give us ideas and concepts that we may not have considered without them there to challenge us.

4 What if we don’t see that we have anything of value to offer in the marketplace? 2 Corinthians 8:12
Note: The “D” in GODS PLAN is to Discover Your Treasure. When the prophet Elisha asked the woman what was in her house, she replied “Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil.” She didn’t see her treasure. Many of us may not see our treasure right now and have not discovered the treasure that we have. We see value in other people’s house. We see the talents, skills, and abilities that other people have. We easily value other people’s skills and abilities, but when it comes to our own skills, abilities, and gifts, we tend to devalue what we have. We don’t see our treasure or we hide it. You have a gift. You have a talent. As you discover and value them, other people will value them and will gladly be willing to pay you for the service, the gift, the treasure that you have. But you’ve got to discover your treasure and see what God has given you first.

5 How can we achieve exponentially more than we ever thought possible? Genesis 2:18? Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (opens in new tab due to long verse)?
Note: The “S” in G.O.D.S.P.L.A.N. is Select Your Team. TEAM stands for Together Everyone Achieves More. Anything and everything that we’ve ever accomplished in life that was of value, we have accomplished with that least one or more individuals. We’ll never reach higher in success than our team. Anyone who says they’re a self-made success is lying. If we are willing to make the Lord a part of our team to transform our financial situation, then our team has already won. We just need to be willing to cooperate with Him in His instruction.

6 What do we do to prevent our business from running our lives? 1 Corinthians 14:40
Note: The “P” in GODS PLAN stands for processize your tasks. Turn your tasks into a process. The difference between owning a business and a business-owning you is whether we have the time and freedom to labor in the capacity that God has called us. Processizing your tasks will make that tremendous difference. The widow in 2 Kings 4 was behind closed doors. She had a proprietary process, a unique way of doing something that isn’t really known by everyone else. These processes, or systems, free us up to do more of what God has uniquely called us to do, and they allow us to solve problems at scale. The wealthiest people in the world have systems that allow them to solve problems and add value to the marketplace even while they’re sleeping.

7 What is the essential skill we NEED to develop in order to have a financial transformation? Proverbs 11:26
Note: The next step is “L,” which stands for lovingly sell your treasure. Notice in 2 Kings 4:7, the man of God told her to go sell the oil. He didn’t tell her to give it away for free. The problem when we are struggling financially is that we have limiting beliefs about selling. Know that it is loving to sell your treasure. Selling is not against God. The Bible says of the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31 that she makes fine linen and sells it. It doesn’t say she gives it away. The virtuous woman is a saleswoman. It’s virtuous to sell. When we discover our treasure, it’s essential to be able to create an offer that someone would be glad to take and support us.

8 What do we do with the money we receive from lovingly selling our treasure? Romans 13:7-8
Note: Now we get into “A” in GODS PLAN, which is to acquit your debt. Now it’s time to pay off our debts. Those who refuse to sell will eventually be unable to pay. And those who are no longer able to pay will eventually struggle and no longer be able to live. If we would sell, we would be able to pay, then we would be able to live. This is God’s divine prescription for poverty.

9 After we’ve become free from debt, what is the final step in G.O.D.S.P.L.A.N. for a financial transformation? 1 Thessalonians 4:11
Note: After we go through the previous steps, it is time to sustain our transformation. The process the man of God gave the woman was to go sell the oil, pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest. We see that God has put business in place as a plan for being able to support ourselves and to experience a financial transformation. One of the reasons why we get into financial straits is because we’ve been taught a lie. Most of what we have heard and been taught about money is simply not true. The misinformation we receive about finances leads to financial slavery. When we know the truth about finances, it will help us to be financially free, and we will be free indeed. If we want to be free and experience a financial transformation, then it’s so essential that we follow G.O.D.S.P.L.A.N.

10 What does having our own business allow us to do for God? Romans 12:11
Note: We can use our business as a vehicle to spread the gospel and serve the Lord, bringing heavenly solutions to earthly problems. Business and ministry are one.
