Main Idea: In this study we will be learning about how to stop being indecisive. Many want to make the perfect decision, but what we need to realize is that the perfect decision is progressive; and we will be looking at this in today’s study.

1 What does the Bible say about being on the fence of indecision? Matthew 12:30
Note: Many don’t realize that indecision IS a decision. With God, there is no middle ground. The devil owns the fence.

2 Why are the just not afraid of failing by sometimes making a wrong decision? Proverbs 24:16
Note: It is even more excusable to make a wrong decision sometimes than to be continually in a wavering position; to be hesitating, sometimes inclined in one direction, then in another. More perplexity and wretchedness result from thus hesitating and doubting than from sometimes moving too hastily. Often the most signal victories and the most fearful defeats have been on the turn of minutes. God requires promptness of action. Delays, doubtings, hesitation, and indecision frequently give the enemy every advantage.

3 Does God reveal our whole journey to us at the beginning? John 16:12

4 Are perfect decisions made from the very start? Proverbs 4:18
Note: What perfect decisions and the morning have in common is that they are both progressive. It is easier to make course corrections to a moving vehicle than one that’s sitting still. Start moving in the direction you believe God would have you go and allow Him to make corrections to your life.

5 Even though Jesus was perfect, did he still experience progressive stages of perfection? Luke 2:52
Note: Just like Christ, in His perfection, grew from one stage of perfection to the next. So the way we also make perfect decisions are in progressive stages. Making decisions is like a seed. As in nature, so in grace; there can be no life without growth. The plant must either grow or die. As its growth is silent and imperceptible, but continuous, so is the development of the Christian life. Sanctification is the work of a lifetime. As our opportunities multiply, our experience will enlarge, and our knowledge increase. We shall become strong to bear responsibility, and our maturity will be in proportion to our privileges. Our decisions can be perfect in their stage.

6 What will create more clarity in the midst of our confusion? John 12:35
Note: Action breeds clarity. As you take a step with the light (information) you have, more light is shed on your path, so you can make better decisions. It’s easier to make course corrections to a vehicle that’s moving than one that’s standing still.

7 Where should we go first for guidance on making the perfect decision? Psalm 119:105
Note: The first place to seek guidance for the decisions we need to make is the Word of God. He has practical instruction for every stage, phase, and situation in life. Bring the situation to Him, ask for direction, and start searching the scriptures!

8 How should we weigh our options when facing a decision? Psalm 37:4
Note: Start with what your ideal desired outcomes and ideal scenario would be. If the ideal scenario isn’t possible, go with the next best thing. Decide from the weight of evidence. To make great decisions you need great information; thus, new information helps you make new decisions. Eg: “Based on weight of evidence I will decide now to take this route.” “According to my current understanding the best option is…”

9 Who else can help us make the best decisions possible? Proverbs 11:14
Note: When we’re making decisions (especially big ones) we need as much information as we can get to make the best possible decision. Seek counsel from godly men and women who have the results you want or who have gone through something similar, and try to get their perspective.

10 Does God promise to direct us as each step? Isaiah 30:21

In Light of God’s Word…

Is it your desire to make perfect progressive decisions by walking in the light that God has given you now and decide by the weight of evidence?

Is it your decision to get off the Fence of Indecision, and to be like the just man who might fall 7 times but by God’s grace always gets back up?
